Will 2019 be even better for Super Hero movies?

2018 has been an amazing year for Super Hero movies. We started the year with Black Panther in February and it set the bar really high. Next, Avengers Infinity War and Deadpool 2 both hit the theaters in May. The Incredibles in June, and Ant Man and the Wasp got us through Summer. There was a lull until October when Venom came out and then we just got the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The last movie we’re waiting for is Aquaman, and we’re so close!

Based on the trailers we’ve seen so far, I think 2019 is going to be even better. In no particular order we can expect:

Captain Marvel

Avengers: Endgame

Dark Phoenix

Shazam!

Spider-Man: Far From Home

The New Mutants

Hellboy

Glass

Gambit

On a personal level, I’m most excited for Glass. The 3rd installment of M Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable Series will be focusing more on the “realty” of Heroes and Villains. If you haven’t seen Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016), you have just over a month to see both before Glass is released in January of 2019. Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and James McAvoy are joined by Sarah Paulson in the final piece of the puzzle. Truly, that’s all I can say because I want to stay away from spoilers. Make sure to see this!

The other stand out film for me has to be The New Mutants. This will be the thirteenth installment of the X-Men film series, but the first horror. The trailer shows 5 mutants being held against their will in a hospital facility trying to survive and escape, while coming to grips with their newly discovered powers. This movie has been a long time coming and has been talked about since 2015. It was originally due to be released in spring of 2018 but we now have a release date of August 2019.
