Free Comic Book Day on May the 4th Be With You!
Hey there to all the Nerfherders and Nerds,
This year two of our favorite holidays fall on the same day. The first Saturday of May is always Free Comic Book Day, a day in which everyone travels to their local comic book shop for great deals and free comics. This year, the first Saturday of May happens to also fall on Star Wars Day, May the 4th Be With You. A cosmic event like this doesn't happen too often, so whether you a rebel or you fight for the dark side, let's all get together and celebrate this stellar occasion properly!
Both trucks are scheduled to be out for lunch. Our OG truck will likely be at Vault of Midnight in Detroit, while our handy Sidekick will be rolling into Dearborn at Green Brain Comics. So while you are waiting in line for your free comics (believe me, there will be a line), grab a super sandwiches and some waffle fries. If you are just getting into comics, Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is a great place to start. There will be tons of different free comic books, that will give you a glimpse into ongoing series. For a full list of what is available this year, you can visit the FCBD website. Some comic book shops may vary in selection and inventory, the best bet is to arrive early if you are looking for something in particular. Vault of Midnight has offered extra free comics to anyone dressed in cosplay, so embrace your inner nerd and join us for a super time!
After a day full of comic books, we are heading over to a little well known Ferndale gem, called Detroit Fleat! This food truck park and boozery is the first of it's kind in the metro area and is a happening spot in the summer time. Detroit Fleat has 3 main stay trucks, El Guapo, Matt & Moe's and Pita Post AKA our 'Taste Buds'. They will all be there with us on May the 4th, serving up their own cuisines. Our team at Hero Or Villain, is excited to be serving up some spectacular Star Wars themed specials that day. So go ahead and mark your calendars, until then may the force be with you!
Star Wars Themed Menu:
Hoagie Wan Kenobi – Chicken, muenster cheese, romaine lettuce, with fresh sliced red tomatoes with Sriracha mayo on a grilled hoagie
Admiral Ackbar - It's a wrap! With Mahi Mahi, shredded asiago cheese, with kale slaw wrapped in lavash
Boba Feta - Portabella cap marinated with rosemary and garlic, melted feta cheese, roasted red peppers, fresh kale, drizzled with Sriracha mayo on an onion roll.
BB-8 - Roast beef, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and horseradish cream on a brioche bun (slider size)
Chewie - Waffle Fries
Bowcaster - Waffle fries loaded with Giardiniera, Feta Cheese & Sriracha Mayo
