E3 2019

E3 proved to be epic this year. Even with Sony not showing up (which i still think is crazy) Nintendo and Microsoft provided so much to be excited about!

Without further ado, let’s have a look at some of the coolest new games!

I suppose it would make sense to start with the obvious, right?

Marvel’s Avengers: A Day

You can play as Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America or Black Widow. The Avengers are blamed for a massive catastrophe and disband. 5 years later, the world is a mess and they need to come back together to sort it all out! I am totally PUMPED to smash everything around as Hulk!

Release Date: May 15th 2020

Cyberpunk 2077

A Sci-Fi game starring Keanu Reeves? Take my money. Polish developer CD Projekt Red is behind the game, which is adapted from Cyberpunk 2020, a tabletop game from 1988.

The main character, V, is full customizable and every choice you make, down to the clothes he or she wears, will influence the world around you and how others interact.

Release date: April 16th 2020

Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

A beautiful remake of the 1993 original. If you played the original game on the Game Boy like I did, you’ll be just as excited as I am! For those that didn’t get to play back in the day, I promise this title won’t let you down. Koholint Island awaits!

Release Date: September 20th 2019

Unnamed Sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I’ll just let the trailer do the talking.

Release Date: TBD

Halo Infinite

We don’t know too much about the newest Halo game, besides the fact that The Master Chief is back and the game will be launched along side Xbox’s new console, Project Scarlett.

Release Date: Holiday 2020

Pokemon Sword and Shield

Ok, ok so “technically” this game wasn’t announced at E3, BUT we finally got more details and loads of gameplay footage!! There is far too much information to write up a proper preview here, but needless to say, we are SO EXCITED FOR MORE POKEMON!! The Galar region, Dynamax Pokemon, max raid battles, the Wild area, new Pokemon!! The list goes on and on.

Release Date: November 15th 2019

Lastly, and certainly most important to me (Colette) we have…

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Now, we Animal Crossing fans were holding our collective breath, desperate to know which week to book off of work later on this year. However, what we believed would be a Q4 2019 release has turned into a Q1 2020 release. After a bit of an uproar, Nintendo officially announced that the push back was because they didn’t want the developers over worked and wanted to provide a better work/life balance. I love you, Nintendo. It’s been 7 years since the last installment. I’m sure we can wait a little longer.

New Horizons, unlike the first 4 games will begin on a completely deserted island, leaving every aspect of development up to the player. As introduced in the mobile spin off game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, a crafting system will be utilized to create new items for decoration and daily life. This will also be the first time that skin color will be a choice and face design will be unisex. As veteran players will know, the Animal Crossing calendar runs in real time, creating day, night and also seasons. For the first time, players will have the option to choose either the Northern or Southern hemispheres in order to enjoy holidays that will now match up with weather for everyone in the world.

Release Date: March 20th 2020

So, I might not have had the ability to mention all of the games that we’re excited about but these choice few really have us pumped up for another year of gaming.

Did you watch this years E3? What are you most excited about?
