Boy Wonder or Lockheed: June Specials

Food truck season is warming up, and sandwiches inspired by two of comic’s best sidekicks are coming to save the summer! Introducing our June Specials: Boy Wonder and Lockheed. Check out the Hero or Villain Calendar to coordinate your team-up.

Half of the iconic Dynamic Duo, Robin (also known as the Boy Wonder) was introduced in Detective Comics #38 in April of 1940. Companion of the caped crusader, the original Boy Wonder was a young child by the name of Dick Grayson.

As the decades have passed we have seen other characters helm the mantle of the Boy Wonder– most notably Jason Todd, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne. In most iterations, the Boy Wonder eventually departs from the darkness of the Batcave to become a part of the Teen Titans.

Our Boy Wonder sandwich is named after one of our team members, Christian. His boyish charm and sidekick skills have earned him this title. Christian is a huge fan of the cherry walnut bread that Hero or Villain serves, made by Knickerbocker Baking.

The Boy Wonder is made of delicious grilled cherry walnut bread combined with chicken, bacon, melted mozzarella, fresh spinach, sliced tomatoes and pesto aioli– hearty and packing a punch of flavor.

Kitty Pryde’s purple partner, Lockheed, was introduced in Uncanny X-Men #166 in 1983 during the historic Christopher Claremont run. In their first meeting, Lockheed saves Kitty Pryde from a hive-minded alien species known as The Brood. The cat-sized purple dragon soon becomes a personal protector and friend to Kitty Pryde.

During Kitty Pryde and Lockheed’s time with the Excalibur team, it was determined that Lockheed was a sentient being and not just a pet. During events in Astonishing X-Men Volume 3, it was revealed that Lockheed had been an undercover agent of Sentient World Observation and Response Department (SWORD), keeping tabs on the X-Men over the years.

Our Lockheed is a new vegan special. This slider-sized sandwich is the perfect companion for your mouth! It’s made of grilled, shredded BBQ jackfruit– topped with pickles and our purple cabbage, cilantro and lime juice slaw.
